Over the past 28 years, I have in conjunction with full time employment had the opportunity to build a client base of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, for whom I prepare statutory accounts, company and personal tax returns, cash flow forecasts, business plans; successfully handled HM Revenue & Customs enquiries into PAYE, Corporation Tax and VAT. Clients include actors, producers, TV & Film directors, photographers, graphic designers, electricians, international wholesalers, cleaning companies, business consultancies, and sub- contractors.

Senior Accountant and Practice Manager

 

As practice manager, I ran a small accountancy firm, with over 400 clients, which include Actors, Producers, Directors, Theatre and Film companies amongst others.

Services provided included:

  • Bookkeeping;
  • VAT registration, processing and returns – manual and electronic;
  • Payroll processing and PAYE year end returns;
  • Auditing individual projects carried out by client organisations;
  • Sole Trader accounts and personal tax returns;
  • Partnership accounts and returns;
  • Management accounts preparation for corporate clients;

  • Ensured compliance with various government legislations including Health & Safety, Data Protection and Money Laundering Regulations;
  • Statutory duties – annual return filing, appointment and termination of company officers, applying to strike off companies;
  • Communicated with clients daily and third party organisations including HM Revenue & Customs, Companies House, Charities Commission and Mortgage companies;
  • Arranging advertising and publicity to bring in business;
  • Recruiting staff and preparing simple employment contracts.
  • Turnover of company was in the region of £350,000 per year average of 30 invoices per month yielding £30,000 per month, sole traders were charged an average of £500 for accounts and tax return, companies were charged £1,000 upwards.
